THAI EXPRESSFriday is the day after the New Year’s and if you have the energy and inclination to do anything that doesn’t involve sweatpants or a remote control, our hat goes off to you. Take ‘er easy and get some takeout at one of Metromix’s favorite spots –
Thai Xpress on Glenstone. While the building may resemble a business that could rotate your tires, it instead offers up tasty, fresh and authentic Thai classics. It also happens to be very inexpensive, which helps your ’09 bottom line. They’re quick, they’re friendly and most importantly, no one will see that you’re wearing pajama pants in the drive-thru.
ZANSaturday night is the night to get back on that party horse. If you’ve resolved to meet some new friends or some new more-than-friends, you have got to try out
Zan on South Patton, the brand new club from the same folks that brought us Flame, Touch, the Boogie and Bubbles. This bi-leveled stylish spot features sleek bars, a huge dance floor and a glass catwalk spanning the upstairs, so ladies, you might want to keep an eye on those skirts. Bottle service is available but if that’s a little much for your new year budget, stick with a mixed drink and enjoy the people watching.
TRIVIA NIGHTFor those looking to flex those mental muscles in 2009, Sunday is your day. Head right next door from Zan to
Patton Alley Pub for their weekly Trivia Night. Round up a couple of friends, grab a couple of beers, order some of those delicious waffle fries and prepare to meet your trivia maker. Topics range from the relevant to the downright useless (my personal strong suit). Competition gets heated, so don’t say we didn’t warn you. The questions start flying at 7:30 p.m. so make sure you’re settled and beered up by then.
