Study Links Coal Plants with Autism

By KSPR News

The same power plants that provide electricity to Dallas may be adding to the area's autism rates.

A new independent study looked at the Environmental Protection Agency's data on mercury emissions from the coal plants.

The professor who did the study found every 10 miles closer to the plants, the autism risk increases about 2%.

Toxicologists argue proximity to a coal power plant does not increase risk because of the way environmental mercury is emitted.
