FDA Investigates Singulair Possible Link to Suicide

By KSPR News

The Food and Drug Administration wants to know more about a widely-prescribed prescription medicine. Millions of people take Singulair for asthma and allergies, but the F.D.A. is worried there might be a link between the drug and suicide. The F.D.A. has received reports of mood and behavior changes, suicidal thinking, and suicide in patients who took the drug. And while no definitive link to the drug has been established, the F.D.A. has asked Merck for more information. The F.D.A. says it is also reviewing reports of behavioral changes in patients taking other similar drugs, but has not yet decided whether further investigation is needed.
