What's Happening This Weekend

By Brad Belote

Mark Twain’s beloved story of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and their adventures of boyhood opens this Friday with 11-year-old Colton Kastrup playing the role of Tom Sawyer. If you loved the book, you’ve got to see the play. Performances at Landers Theatre run through Sunday, April 6.

If you’re an antique collector, this weekend is for you. Dealers from across the country will set up at Remington’s with a selection of antique furniture, jewelry, fine china, silver, and more. The annual antiques show is presented by the Springfield Symphony Guild. The Friday night preview includes dinner for $20. Saturday and Sunday admission is $3.

Sunday brings big-time comedy to Springfield. Brian Regan, who you will probably recognize from Comedy Central, takes the stage with a standup show at the Gillioz Theatre. The show starts at 7 p.m., tickets are on sale at metrotix.com.
