NEVADA CITY, Calif. -- Sheriff's deputies say a brush clearance worker killed in a wood chipper accident was decapitated.
The man, identified as Martin Lara of Applegate, was feeding branches and debris into an industrial-sized wood chipper when it appears he became tangled in a rope.
Nevada County Chief Deputy Coroner Paul Schmidt told The Union newspaper of Grass Valley that a rope became wrapped around Lara's neck and beheaded him.
It does not appear that his body actually entered the wood-chipper.
