AMADOR COUNTY, Calif -- A registered sex offender is accused of stealing mementos and flowers from grave sites and then giving them to neighbors as gifts.
Earlier this month, Amador County Sheriff’s deputies were called about items being stolen from grave sites and mausoleum at the Sunset View Cemetery.
Detectives identified the alleged thief from surveillance video as a registered sex offender Jimmy Ray Goodall.
He took items from kids to war veterans, Amador County Sheriff Martin Ryan said.
At his home, investigators found items from the cemetery.
Items stolen from the cemetery were also found at the homes of neighbors who told deputies they were gifts from Goodall.
Goodall was arrested at his mother's home and booked for malicious acts at a cemetery, possession of stolen property and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
He is being held at the Amador County Jail on $40,000 bail.
