SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Local Walmart and Sam's Club associates, customers and members collected more than $281,000 on behalf of CoxHealth in a seven-week fundraising campaign this fall. The fundraising effort was part of a national campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which resulted in nearly $37 million for member hospitals across America.
Donations poured in Aug. 29 to Oct. 16, as Walmart and Sam’s Club associates at 47 locations in the Springfield area held various in-store fundraising activities and asked customers and members at the register to help kids live better.
Money raised in the Springfield area will be used to help more than 100,000 local children in 32 counties in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas served each year by Children’s Miracle Hospitals at CoxHealth. Funds go to assist families with a child’s CoxHealth hospital and therapy bills, prescription medication, special medical equipment and travel expenses for out-of-town medical appointments.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provides life-saving equipment for CoxHealth hospitals and ambulances; funds the C.A.R.E. Mobile, a mobile medical unit that provides basic health care services to uninsured and underinsured children; and supports several educational and safety programs.
