INDIANAPOLIS - A man died and nine people were hurt, including several children, when a school bus and multiple semi trucks crashed on Interstate 70 west of Indianapolis on Friday.
The school bus was from Stoutland, Mo., with students who attended the national FFA convention in Indianapolis. The Stoutland School District superintendent said two busloads of students from the school were at the convention but only one bus was involved in the crash.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of I-70 near mile marker 59 just before 1 p.m.
Officials with IU West Health Hospital said seven juveniles from Missouri were transported and are in stable condition. One adult was taken to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital and a second injured adult was transported to Hendricks Regional Health Hospital.
Indiana State Police said a man who was a passenger in a box truck died.
The crash closed the westbound lanes for several hours.
The superintendent with Mill Creek Community School Corporation said one of his bus drivers helped transport Stoutland students from the crash.
