BERRYVILLE, Ark. - The Carroll County Sheriff's Department showed off 3,400 marijuana plants, out of more than 40,000 plants that were recently found growing wild near Berryville. The rest of the plants were destroyed before the news conference on Friday morning.
Sheriff Randy Mayfield said the marijuana eradication project was done in cooperation with numerous other law enforcement agencies. He said, since the plants were not cultivated, no one will face criminal charges for them. Mayfield believes the marijuana grew from seeds spread by plants that were cut down in a previous year.
