SPRINGIELD, Mo. - Greene County sheriff's detectives are investigating a child's death at a home child care facility on Farm Road 186 just south of Highland Springs Golf Course and subdivision. A deputy at the home told a reporter it was a "delicate" situation.

Shortly after 12:40 p.m. Thursday, emergency responders went to a home in the 3500 block of East Farm Road 186 after receiving a call about a child who was not breathing and unresponsive at an in-home childcare facility. Emergency medical responders performed lifesaving measures and took the child to a hospital but doctors could not save the child's life.

Detectives are investigating this death and additional information may be released when it's available. The daycare has also temporarily suspended operations.

Crime scene tape was across the driveway to the home all afternoon and was still there early in the evening.
