Teenager dies from injuries in crash in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A teenager injured in a crash January 6 in Springfield has died.

Breanna Thomas, 18, of Springfield, died Friday after suffering critical injuries in the crash.

The crash happened in the 2500 block of West Bennett. She was a passenger in a black 2006 Nissan driven by Austin Larue, 22, of Republic.
Police say the Larue was going at a high-rate of speed when he lost control and ran off the road. Larue was injured in the crash. Investigators say his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
