Springfield woman dies from burns suffered in house fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield Fire Department says a woman died after suffering extensive burns in a house fire Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to the burning house in the 2600 block of North Johnston Avenue. Firefighters say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The woman inside later died at a Springfield hospital from burns suffered in the fire. Her identity has yet to be released.

Her death is Springfield's first related to a fire in 2018.
