SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Friday was the deadline the government could have gutted Springfield's Mercy Medicare and Medicaid funding.
We just learned that decision has been postponed until sometime next week. This all comes from a investigation over alleged patient abuse and neglect. A government spokesperson tells us, they're still investigating if the hospital has successfully made the required changes.
Until further notice, Mercy remains a certified Medicare and Medicaid facility.
Mercy issued this statement:
Mercy continues to work with regulators on a plan of action and to support co-workers with additional skills and training. Our goal is to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors is treated with dignity and receives compassionate care.
