One dead after a crash in north Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KSPR) -- The driver of a motorcycle died after colliding with a car in north Springfield.

Sgt. Ryan Russell with Springfield Police said the accident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The car was traveling east on Division St. trying to cross over to Commercial St. and failed to yield hitting the motorcycle which was traveling in the west bound lanes.

Kenneth Davis, 57, of Springfield was killed in the crash. A female passenger, riding on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Officers do not suspect the driver of the car was under the influence. However, the driver was taken to the hospital for a voluntary blood test.

SPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
