In today's Leigh's Lost and Found report, our featured dog is a beautiful long haired pup that animal control is not quite sure what breed is.
"She's possibly got some Retriever, maybe some Shepherd in her. She's got a very fluffy long coat but her exact breed is hard to pinpoint."
Animal control believes the female dog is a little older, around five or six. Someone found her loose in the 800 block of north Grant and brought her to the shelter.
She does have a collar on but the ring on it that would hold a tag is empty.
As it finally gets colder, shelter coordinator Josh Doss is stressing how important it is to have some kind of ID on your dog and to make sure they get through the winter safely.
"Be prepared for it starts getting really cold and we get snow and ice. You'll want to make sure you have proper, permanent shelter for any animals you keep outside or just start bringing them inside more often."
If you recognize our featured dog, or if you've lost a pet, you can call animal control at 833-3592. You can also visit their website to see pictures of all the animals currently there and to fill out an online lost pet form.
Another great resource is the Leigh's Lost and Found facebook page. Anyone can post a lost or found animal on there so be sure to like the page and share it with your friends.
