How to help your dog during fireworks

CNN -- With July 4th just around the corner, it's time to think about our four legged friends and how to keep pets calm during parties and fireworks displays.
Every year, countless dogs panic, hide, or even run away on the fourth; terrified by the loud noises.
So how can you relax on Independence Day and enjoy the peace of mind that your Fido is calm and safe?

"Get them to a dark warm place. A dark place and try to limit the noise. Put them in a room without windows that helps, or a basement somewhere that's sound proof or turn on a radio on to muffle the sound,” said Veterinarian Phillip Brown.
Also, soothing words can help calm your own nerves. Body language is what your dog naturally understands and responds to first, so stay calm around your pooch during the holiday celebration.
