SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KSPR) - A missing teenager from Springfield was found safe by police in Oak Grove, east of Kansas City, on Tuesday night.
The Highway Patrol cancelled the endangered person alert, which was issued on Monday afternoon, early Wednesday. The Highway Patrol said the 13-year-old girl was located. She disappeared from her home in Springfield on Sunday.
Oak Grove police say the teen was with a man, who was arrested. They said the FBI took over the case. An FBI spokesman in Kansas City said Wednesday that he couldn't comment on the investigation.
Lisa Cox, a spokeswoman for the Springfield Police Department said Wednesday afternoon by email that the girl "was willingly with an adult male (unrelated) who she shouldn’t have been with. We do believe she was in danger. She has been reunited with family. Detectives are right in the middle of this investigation, but I’m hopeful that tomorrow (Thursday) much more will be available publicly,"
