NEAR FORDLAND, Mo. -- Authorities in Webster County are investigating a murder-suicide north of Fordland.

Sheriff Roye Cole says deputies were called to a home in the 600 block of Hidden Pond Road around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found two deceased individuals with gunshot wounds.

Sheriff Cole says it appears a woman shot a man, and then shot herself. The man has been identified as Nelson Sparks, 66. The woman's name hasn't been released.

Authorities say the man's son discovered the bodies after he went to the home to check on his dad after he hadn't heard from his father in a week.

No word yet on the relation of the deceased.
