Meet Lexi Spivak.
Lexi joined the KSPR News This Morning team in December of 2016 as a Multimedia Journalist. She was born and raised in the Chicagoland area.
She started her broadcast career in Spokane, Washington as the Morning Producer & Coordinator and Morning Traffic Reporter for KREM News.
As Morning Producer & Coordinator, Lexi scheduled guests from the community to come on her show each day. This included everyone from elected officials, law enforcement officers, charity representatives, and the occasional famous act rolling through town. While producing in the control room, she would also track local traffic conditions. She would do live reports every 30 minutes so her viewers were up to date as they left the house and hit the roads.
While in Spokane, Lexi received a national Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Sports Reporting. She helped field produce the piece alongside one of the stations main anchors and a photojournalist. The story showed how one dedicated athlete trained at a local hotel pool, fighting numerous distractions and obstacles. What made the story incredible was not only the talented swimmer, but where her talents eventually took her. The small town girl from Northern Washington is one of the top swimmers in the nation and is currently training at UCLA.
Lexi herself is no stranger to the water. She was a member and captain of the University of Missouri Women's Swim and Dive Team from 2010 to 2014. She graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism with a Bachelor of Journalism. She reported, anchored, and produced for KOMU News during her time in Columbia.
Lexi still loves to swim when she is not in the newsroom. She also enjoys the outdoors and any activities she can do with her dog, Truman. She loves spending her spare time with her parents, Joe and Shari, and her siblings.
