Meet KY3's Emily Wood.
Emily is an Emmy award-winning journalist who grew up in the Ozarks in the small town of Dixon, Mo. She has worked at TV stations all over the country and is thrilled to be back home in Missouri.
Emily caught the news bug at a young age. When she was just 16, she got her first on-air job covering elections for a cable station in Phelps County.
Her passion for reporting took her to the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University where she earned degrees in Journalism and Sociology. While at Medill, Emily anchored a newscast for PBS in Chicago. She also co-produced an award-winning documentary about autism.
Just prior to coming to KY3 in December 2011, Emily worked as a morning show anchor for KWTV in Oklahoma City. At KWTV, she often had to be at the station as early as midnight to prepare for the 4 a.m. broadcast! Emily has also worked at WJTV in Jackson, Miss.; KMIZ in Columbia, Mo.; and WGEM in Quincy, Ill. While in college, she also interned in Springfield.
Emily has earned several awards for her work anchoring and reporting. She has also been recognized for her community involvement.
When she is not out chasing the news of the day, Emily focuses on being the best wife she can be for her husband, Ryan, and best mom she can be for her and one-year-old son, Theodore. Emily is also a fitness enthusiast and has worked as a personal trainer.
