Meet Whitney Scott

By Brad Belote

Whitney Scott joined the KSPR News team as a news and sports reporter in November of 2004 and was promoted to Sports Director in August 2007. Just before coming to Springfield, Whitney enjoyed a successful, though short, stint on ESPN's Dream Job.

Whitney grew up in Lockwood, Missouri, and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting.

She is a huge sports fan and spends most of her time keeping up with her wide assortment of favorite teams. She cheers on the Cubs, Yankees, Cowboys, Virginia Tech Hokies and Duke BlueDevils. She is also still a huge supporter of her alma mater Northwest and keeps up with the Bearcat football and basketball teams.

"I believe the Cubs will win the World Series within the next few years. If the Red Sox can beat the Yankees in four straight and then break an 86-year curse, the Cubs' title can't be far behind. I also hope to some day get to cover the Cubs' second or third world title in my life time ... Hey, a girl can dream!"

One dream that did come true, Whitney got married on December 19, 2009, to Justin Jones. Justin is a firefighter with the Nixa Fire Protection District.
