Will Carter came to KSPR in October of 2008 from Jonesboro, AR where he reported for ABC affiliate KAIT. Before his time on-air, Will worked as a photographer and producer in Memphis, TN and his hometown of Jackson, TN.
He graduated from the University of Memphis in 2006 with his Bachelors Degree in Journalism, and a minor in Technical Theatre Production. He has been working in Television since 1999, and says he never dreamed that he would be doing it this long, but has fell in love with the craft of the business.
I pride myself on telling stories that really matter to people, and those that
aren't always easy to make happen. I love to do investigative pieces, and have a passion for weather. In my time at KAIT, I was a certified storm spotter/chaser, and have tracked several tornadoes live on the air with our weather team.
Also, while working in Arkansas I won my first Associated Press award for a series I did on the Methamphetamine epidemic. I also was part of the Emmy award winning team that covered the February 2008 tornado outbreak.
Since my time at KSPR, I have already received some great opportunities. I would say the coolest thing has been starting on a political year, and getting to cover both major party presidential nominees.
I love the Ozarks, and already the area feels like home. So far I've had the chance to catch one of the downtown art walks, which was fun. Now, I'm looking forward to going camping on the area lakes, and exploring all of the cool off the beaten path places there are to go. I'm also looking forward to checking out some of the local theatrical productions.
