Melody Pettit returned to her home state in July 2012 as KSPR's weekend anchor. She was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Melody earned her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Brigham Young University in Utah. She started her broadcast career in Kearney, Nebraska where she was the first female sports anchor and reporter. Melody then moved to Salina, KS to work for KWCH. She was quickly promoted to news anchor and reporter at the same station's headquarters in Wichita, Kansas.
In 2011, the American Cancer Society honored Melody for her excellence in journalism. She beat out hundreds of others for the High Plains Media Award. The award honored Melody for her informed and enlightened reporting on cancer and her encouragement for people to take action in the fight against cancer, something she is passionate about.
In her spare time, Melody loves to play basketball, ski and watch scary movies.
